Town Map

Tenby has an interesting history dating back to Tudor times and beyond.Visit the Tudor Merchants House now owned by the National Trust. The town has been home to several artists and writers such as Augustus and Gwen John and Nina Hamnet. Beatrix Potter was a frequent visitor and mentions Frog street, where Blaenau is situated, in one of her letters. Find out more in the local Museum on Castle Hill, well worth a visit. Today Tenby has beautiful sandy beaches, elegant Georgian and Victorian houses surround a delightful working harbour. A large section of the Town Wall still survives and encloses the old town with its cobbled streets and many shops, pubs and restaurants. In summer the town 'within the walls' is closed to traffic during the day making a very relaxed atmosphere with many pavement cafe's and often street entertainment too. Tenby also makes a good base from which to explore the rest of Pembrokshire's beautiful coastline and many visitor attractions, including Caldey island with its monastery and small resident community. Though quieter in the winter, there is still plenty 'going on' making it the ideal venue for family holidays or a relaxing short break at any time of the year.
